Update: It's All Happening THIS Year

Justin went back to Jacksonville with Chelsea Sunday night. He didn't want her to be down there by herself. She had classes all week. It's now Thursday night. We have found out that Chelsea's pregnancy will not be covered under her parent's insurance, simply because it does not cover a dependent's pregnancy. So, the only other route they can take at this point is to get on Medicaid. I hate that they have to go this route, but they, nor I, nor her parents can pay for the prenatal visits and the birth. It's not the end of the world. That's what it is there for. I and my husband have paid our fair share of taxes, so that should cover it! At least now they can go ahead and get married, and not have to worry about being covered under her parents' insurance.

Chelsea went to the doctor today. They found out that the baby will be due just after Thanksgiving. It's weird to think that this very year I am going to have a grandchild. It's surreal. I certainly don't feel old enough for that! Do all first time grandparents feel this way? Come to think of it, probably not. I know someone who wishes her children would produce a grandchild for her. And now, I'm gonna have a grandchild before her! Wow. That's just not right.

This will be the first great grandchild for my father-in-law. He is tickled to death. I know that he doesn't agree with the way in which it happened. But, he said that all we can do now is to love them and support them. I only wish my mother-in-law were here to witness this blessed event. She would know all the right things to say and do. I miss her so much. On the other hand, it will be my mom and dad's 5th great grandchild, so it wasn't as big of a shock to them. They still haven't met Chelsea, but I hope to change all that this weekend.

And here is the best news of all. Justin has an interview tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at Home Depot!! I pray that this works out for him so that we all won't have to worry about him finding work. They are coming home this weekend. Chelsea is going to her parents to spend some time with them. Please continue to keep us in your prayers because God is definitely hearing them!

Back again... (I'm not a stalker just so you aren't frightened ;-))

I just feel for your family (as I said in my earlier comment) & how my sister's family is going through the same experience.

Great news about your son's interview! As I head to bed tonight I will pray for him!

One thing I have learned in over 14 years of infertility is that nobody is here by accident and nobody is not here by accident. God has it all under control; maybe not the way we plan it to be, but He has a plan & purpose yet to be realized.

God bless you Sandra! I'm sure you're going to make an awesome Grandma (once you get your head around it!)

Congratulations on becoming a grandmother. First of all, you look way too young. What a blessing and a joy! I understand some of what you are facing, several of my cousins are in the same situation as college students, and it's a struggle. One of them is in the process of getting her son covered on Medicaid. Take care and I like your blog. :)

I certainly will keep them in my prayers. I have to say that it sounds like they are being very grown up and ready for this. I know that the whole way things happened is not what we want all of the time but it is just the way it is. I am so happy to hear that you are fully supportive and excited.

As for not being old enough to be a grandmother. I know that both my mother and mother in law thought that when I had my oldest. I had just turned 23 and they were in their early 50s . I do not pretend to know your age but I will tell you that they did not feel old enough! My mother in law now has 9 grandchildren at 60 and still doesn't feel old enough. Keep feeling young. That is what will make you the cool Grandmother!

As for Home Depot I hope that his interview went well.

Thanks for all the comments and concern. And, I just turned 40 years old in February, for those who were wondering. I had Justin when I was 20 years old, so he is the same age as I was when I had him. I know it's all going to be okay. I have a lot of support...and I am starting to get used to the idea of having a baby around. It has been a while!

Just reading this today- so did he get the job?

Justin said that the interview went well. They told him that the manager was on vacation, but when he got back they would give him a call to come and talk to him. As of today (4/9/09), he hasn't heard anymore from them. We're still hoping...
