Dance On The Bar At Your Own Risk

Sign on the front door of Coyote Ugly

I hope you liked the picture that I posted Monday about my weekend.  It was taken at the Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville.  We stepped into the front as we were walking by, and I couldn't resist having my picture made.  We had spent all day Saturday at Belmont University at a show choir competition.  Our show choir came in 2nd place.  Normally, that would be good, but we had been grand champions for the last two years.  Oh well, I guess all good things must come to tan end.  Our show is a bit unconventional.  It is more like a musical theatre production, and some judges just don't know how to take it.  I, myself, love it.  It is so interesting.  I hope that show choirs around this area begin to move in that direction.

Anyway, on Sunday we decided to walk down the streets of downtown Nashville.  I had been before, but it had been such a long time ago.  We saw a few street singers, and heard some music from inside some of the clubs/eateries as we walked past.  I was really hoping to see a famous country music star, perhaps Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, or just any of them really.  No such luck.  Maybe if we had been there on Friday or Saturday night, but not Sunday.  We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe.  Our waitress was like the painted lady.  She had tattoos everywhere except for her face, and she had piercings in her nose, lips, ears, and some unmentionable places.  I didn't see those, but when I asked her which one hurt the most, and she just kinda looked at me and raised her eyebrows.  That was enough for me.  I knew exactly what she meant!!  Normally, this would be a little much to ask for in a waitress, but I reminded myself that we were at the Hard Rock Cafe.  I admit that I had a hard time looking at her, at first, what with all the piercings and all, but after I broke the ice with my question, things got easier.  She was a good waitress, very attentive and helpful.  And, the food was fabulous.

Later, on the drive home, we stopped at the Carnton House...again.  We had gone there last year, but had only walked around the exterior of the house.  This time the weather was wonderful, and we decided to take the tour.  I LOVED it!  It was so interesting to see the rooms of that house the way they would have been decorated back during the Civil War.  Our tour guide kept us mesmerized with the story about how the lady of the house, Carrie McGavock, had offered her home as a hospital to the wounded and dead confederate soldiers during the Battle of Franklin.  If you are ever in Franklin, Tennessee, I HIGHLY recommend taking this tour, or at least, visiting the grounds and the old confederate cemetery there.

Now, I leave you with a few pictures from our trip.

A Bicycle Built for Three?!  Cute!

Hey there... I too have been MIA in the blog hopping world. Thanks for coming by for a glass of lemonade ;-) I LOVED Nashville when we went a couple years ago for a business trip Hubby had. I wasn't a big country music fan before we went... but came home addicted ;-) Bummer you didn't see any stars!

I would have felt similar to you with the waitress btw ;-)

How's that precious grand-daughter?

I'm finished working again for awhile so hopefully I'll get back into the groove of both writing and hopping in the blog world ;-) I've missed you too!

Hugs xo
