An Alabama Wedding

My niece got married last night!  The wedding was held at Guntersville State Park.  Although it was a bit hot & humid, it was a beautiful wedding.  She was a beautiful bride.  The only drawback to it was that is was "Alabama Crimson Tide" themed.  This was a bit of a conflict for us because my family are Auburn Tiger fans.  But, love for our niece and the new life that she is about to begin won out over any petty rivalry.  Red and white shakers were given out before the wedding.  We couldn't bring ourselves to even hold one of those!  It was a bit ironic, and funny, that the bride's grandmother sported a big Auburn umbrella to keep the sun off of her. (See top right picture.) I know that she didn't realize this, but it was a little retribution for those us Auburn fans who had to endure all the crimson and white.

The ringbearer wore a houndstooth hat in pure Bear Bryant fashion. (Second picure) Once the bride and groom were presented to the crowd, MOST of the people shook their shakers & started the R-O-L-L-L-L-L-L-L.  I had positioned myself to the back of the crowd so that I could get a good picture of the new bride and groom as they exited.  After a few moments, they emerged down the aisle, amidst the shakers and R-O-L-L-L-L-L.  Once through, the crowd thundered, "TIDE!"  The groom & groomsmen were wearing their Alabama ball caps.  (I felt sick. jk War Eagle)  I'm really happy for them.  I hope they have a long, wonderful life together.  Congratulations, Riannon & Matt!

War Eagle! Way to be a good sport. Of course, most of us AU Tigers are.
