Life just caught up with me, and I've not had a lot of time for blogging. So here's an update of my family.

Me: I'm working as an assistant accountant at the local state community college. Our fiscal year is winding down at the end of this month, so things are beginning to get hectic there. I do Accounts Payable, so that deals with purchase orders and writing checks. I also do the accounting for our Restricted Funds, which are mainly grants. Anyway, I stay busy.

Kevin (Husband): He does lots of woodworking, which we sell for extra income since I only get paid once a month. We have a booth at a local store which has been doing pretty good. So he helps to keep it stocked. We're also trying to get another Etsy shop going. It's up, and we've had a few sales.

Justin: He has 3 kids, Millie, Maddie, and Finn. Unfortunately, he is now divorced. He is staying with us while he gets accustomed to paying child support. He gets the kids every other weekend, except he was able to have them more often over the summer when they weren't in school. More about them later.

Chase: He moved out and in with one of his best friends. They share the rent and utilities. He has a great job at a place that bottles various types of oils. He makes good money, and he bought a souped up pickup truck.

Jordan: Jordan works at the local golf course while he attends Jacksonville State University. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Emergency Management with a minor in Homeland Security. His classes are all online, so that helps a lot.

So there's an update since it's been so long since I've blogged. I really need to get back to it. Hopefully, I can.

Take care!Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-50516547829077899572013-10-17T05:58:00.000-05:002013-10-17T05:58:24.208-05:00A Sad WeekMy heart is heavy for a dear lady I know. This lady has been battling cancer for several years now. Just yesterday I heard that she has stopped all treatment and is now under "comfort care." It's so sad. I'm not real close to this lady, but we share some similarities. She has 3 sons, like I do. Two of her sons went to school with Chase and Jordan. They played football together. She and I were both a part of the parents that sat in the stands cheering on the team. We attended some of the same show choir competitions. Now, her fight is about to end, and I can't help but think of those 3 boys who will go through the rest of their lives without their mother. While 2 of them have already graduated from high school, one of them is still in middle school. She won't be there as he graduates and goes on to college. She won't get to experience the joys of grandparenthood. She won't get to see her sons walk down the aisle. It's just not fair. Life is not fair. Cancer is a cruel, cruel disruptor of lives. This is a sad week. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-12095422620935123272013-08-14T06:59:00.003-05:002013-08-14T06:59:54.522-05:00The Blog...Trying to Get it Going AgainIt's time for the start of a new school year. The teachers came back yesterday, so things are beginning to get interesting. I am at a different school this year, so we shall see how that goes.

My grandbabies are growing, and I don't get to see them near as often as I'd like since they live over an hour away. Justin works weird shifts, also.

My Etsy business, Letter Mania, is going really well. We have also begun making things out of old pallets. We are going to set up a space inside a shop downtown to see how things go with that.

Jordan is about to start his second year at Snead State Community College. Chase graduated from Snead in May, and he will be going to my alma mater, Jacksonville State University, for the Fall semester. I think he has settled on graphic design/multimedia design as his major...for now.

It's a busy time in our lives. I just wanted to write a few tidbits here to try to get this blog thing going again and provide an update on our family goings on.

Now...it's off to work.

Later...Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-44482020607188266782013-03-24T06:52:00.000-05:002013-03-24T06:52:29.900-05:00My Current Life, in a NutshellHello! How's life treating you? It's okay here. We still have our ups and downs, as everybody does. I guess we'll make it as long as our ups outweigh our downs. I'm still working at the primary school, but I'm also running a fairly decent business making wooden letters for people. My Etsy shop seems to be doing okay. I have a steady amount of orders coming in. I really hope it continues to grow, and I can continue to do it. Speaking of growing, my little granddaughters are growing like weeds! Millie is now 3, and Maddie is going on 1 1/2. They are precious! And I'm not a bit biased. ;) Even thought they love Disney movies and Disney princesses, Justin is making sure that they don't miss out on the things he loved as a kid. He has Millie collecting Pokémon cards, and she knows all about The Power Rangers. Maddie is still a little young for all of that, but rest assured, she will know all about it also. They both pretend like they are Power Rangers. Maddie is very good at stomping her foot down and saying, "Heee-ya!" It's so funny. I love those little girls SO much!! Justin is hoping to get a good job around Albertville so that they can move over here. Chelsea completed her teaching degree in secondary English last December. Hopefully, they both can get jobs close by. There are just more opportunities for them around this area.

Jordan and Chase are still in college at Snead State. Chase will be graduating with his Associate's Degree in the spring. He plans to transfer to Jacksonville and go into Computer Information Systems...but I'm not sure if he'll stick with that or not. He really doesn't know what he wants to do, but that sounds the most promising right now. As for Jordan, I just don't know about him. I'm not sure he is taking in seriously right now. He procrastinates on big assignments, and that usually gets him into trouble. He is still in jazz band, which pays for his classes. So that's a major plus.

And then there's my husband, Kevin. He still struggles with mental illness as a manic depressant, and always will. Some days it's hard, for both him and me. I hate those days so much. But I try to relish the good days.

So, that's my life, currently, in a nutshell. I just felt it was time to update and put it all down, even though it's been awhile. I'll get back here and post again one day...hopefully sooner than later. Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-71138110342162511222013-01-22T06:39:00.000-06:002013-01-22T06:39:14.568-06:00Just an UpdateHello! I thought I'd do an update since I've been away too long. I'm still churning along, working at the school, staying busy, busy, busy. I've started a new business on the side. I make wooden letters and monograms for people to hang in their homes and on their doors. It's been going really well, and I plan to set up as a vendor at the local show choir competition in February. Here's a link to my Etsy shop. You know...just in case you wanted to check it out.

Let's see. What's been going on on the homefront? The days of seeing my grandbabies seem to be getting further and further apart. It used to be once every 2 weeks, but lately it's been more like a month at a time. Justin has a crazy work schedule, plus they have been sick with a virus, and we sure didn't want to get that! Little Maddie had an episode that we don't really know what happened. It could've been a seizure, or it could've been that she was choking on something. The MRI and CAT scan came back clear, so hopefully she won't have another one of those. 'Bout scared us to death!!

I'm praying that Justin will find a good-paying job in this area so that they can move out from boonie country. You've heard of that, right? Sure you have. ;) There are just so many more opportunities for them around here, and it's NOT just because we live here. Although it would be nice to see those babies a little more frequently.

Chase and Jordan are going to Snead State. Chase will be graduating with an associate's degree in the spring! Wooo Hooo!! I think he is going to go into Computer Information Systems when he transfers to Jacksonville State University. He has had a hard time deciding what he wants to be when he grows up. I don't know if Jordan has a clue yet. He still has time, though.

So it's time for me to get in there and get ready for my 9 to 5 job, more like 8-4. I hope everyone has a blessed day. Chow.Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-34312732848842316872012-11-22T06:19:00.000-06:002012-11-22T06:19:13.579-06:00ThankfulHappy Thanksgiving! I'm up early waiting on the turkey to finish up cooking. We stayed up late last night, trying to get ahead on our Thanksgiving dinner. My parents are coming for dinner. Justin and his two girls will be here later this afternoon. They are going to spend the night!! For the first time ever!! I hope they do okay. Justin is spending the night, too, so maybe they will. Chelsea has plans for Black Friday shopping, so we get the benefit of that!

I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the things I am thankful for. Today I am thankful for my family, both immediate and extended. I'm thankful for my dear friends and my co-workers. I'm thankful for my home, my marriage, my vehicles, my job, and my health. I'm thankful that my mom and dad are still around. We've had a tough year in my family. My niece lost her 2-year old son in a tragic accident that involved my sister. It happened in October, so it is still fresh on our minds. So, I pray that we all get through this and come out stronger. It will be hard for my niece & my sister over the holidays. I just pray that God will wrap his loving arms around them and comfort them. I pray he will help the two of them to reconcile.

And, right now, I'm thankful that there's food in the oven and a family to share it with.

May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving. Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-59710453601879334462012-11-17T06:28:00.001-06:002012-11-17T06:28:49.887-06:00Life Update: NovemberBlogger, please forgive me. It's been 3 months since my last post. Ah, well. It is what it is. I thought it was about time for an update, if only to be able to look back at this blog in the future to help me remember things that I may forget by then. Who knows? Maybe I'll find it in me to begin regular blog posts again. Life just seems to get in the way...which is good.

Kevin and I have started a new little side business. We are making wooden monograms and letters.

Who knew when I broke down and bought him that scroll saw that it would turn into this? Things are going really well, and we have several orders in the works right now. Of course, many people are buying them for Christmas gifts, so I suspect it will slow down after Christmas. But I'm going to enjoy it for now. It's good to give us a little extra moolah for Christmas, because things were looking a little bleak.

I asked my boys what they wanted for Chrismas, and they couldn't give me an answer. Well, Jordan did say he would like a phone. And, don't be thinking he's referring to any newfangled phone that's on the market now to replace the one he has. Because he doesn't even have one. You see, we did away with the $300+ cell phone bill that we had. Kevin and I got prepaid phones, and the boys don't have one. They still use their old iPhone for wireless access, but no texting or phone calls. I expected them to throw a fit, but it wasn't so bad. Chase has a job, so I figured he could get his own cell phone plan if he wanted to. Jordan ended up selling his iPhone for some extra cash, which he blew through pretty quickly. So yeah, Jordan wants a cell phone for Christmas. I am NOT getting into another 2-year contract, though. So I'll see what we can come up with. Maybe I can figure out something for Chase. I'm sure he will mention something he would like to have.

Today my little granddaughters are coming to celebrate their birthdays! Millie turned 3-years old last Saturday, and Maddie will be 1-year old in a few days. Wow. Time flies. They are so sweet & precious, except when Millie jerks the pillow out from under Maddie's head when her mom & dad are changing her diaper on the hardwood floor! It wasn't pretty. Maddie cried & Millie got a spanking. But you can't have Millie going around doing that kind of stuff to her sister. I mean, we never did anything like that, now did we?! :) They came for trick-or-treating. Millie was a little ghost, and Maddie was a little strawberry.

Millie would run from door to door & say, "trick-or-treat!" It was so cute. I'm glad we get a holiday all to ourselves, because Thanksgiving and Christmas can get pretty involved. It's so hard to work around all the other family's get-togethers.

Well, now it's time to go drink some morning coffee, and get ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great weekend, a great Thanksgiving, and a wonderful, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! (I had to throw that all in there in case I don't get back here soon.)Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-57676041951995404722012-08-19T22:30:00.000-05:002012-08-19T22:30:00.486-05:00A New School Year: A New BeginningSo another school year starts tomorrow. Maybe I'm ready. I survived the past week of orientations and long work hours. So to have school actually starting will probably be a good thing! I know tomorrow morning will be C-R-A-Z-Y!!! Might as well prepare myself. I thrive under pressure, though...IF I can stay focused. I seriously think I have developed Adult A.D.D. Sometimes I just have to tell my self to F-O-C-U-S!! One thing at a time!!! But I manage to get it all done.

This school year is gonna be a little different for me. It is the first year that I will not have kids in the public school system. My baby boy, Jordan, graduated from high school back in May. He will be beginning his first day of college tomorrow. It's a little bittersweet. I'm glad that he will be close by at the local community college. I know several moms whose children have decided to attend college at a university away from home. I know that they will be missing their children, terribly. It's a big change. Jordan will still be at home, along with my middle son, Chase. Chase is still attending the community college. He hasn't always taken a full load, so he didn't graduate at the 2-year mark last May. He has this semester and one more before he is finished with his Associates' Degree in General Education. He has been struggling to figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life. I think he has settled on becoming a software developer. He said he wants something where he can make lots of money. (Don't we all?) I don't blame him, but I have told him that being happy with what you do is also important. Of course, he may still change his mind once he transfers to a university. Jordan will be playing bass guitar in the jazz band. He got a 2-year scholarship to do so. It includes his tuition, but not his books. He qualified for a Pell Grant which will pay for his books, and he will have some leftover. He thinks he wants to get a business degree. I wholeheartedly agree with that. There is so much you can do with a business degree...accounting, management, finance, etc. Of course, he is just starting out, so his plans are subject to change.

Justin is getting prepared to start back to school soon. Chelsea starts her student teaching next week, and then she will be in the job market for a teaching job. She is majoring in English (secondary education). Once she gets a job, Justin is going back to school to get some kind of degree in computers. He has always been very smart. He never studied in high school, so it will be something to get used to. He can do it, though.

I just hope and pray for the best for my boys. I know that they can do anything they put their minds to. I just hope they will stay focused and make it through.

So here we go on the next adventure in life. Pray for the best for all of us!

Now on to show choir band.

Still no new grandbaby. Still waiting...

Millie turns 2 on Thursday.

Things at work seem to be getting better since my job split/doubled. (I know. It sounds like an oxymoron. I guess it all depends on how you look at it.)

Can't believe: Kim Kardashian is already getting a divorce. Lindsey Lohan can be so stupid. Michelle Duggar is pregnant with #20. Maks & Hope made it to the semi-finals on DWTS.Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-25966797559595800652011-10-27T06:46:00.000-05:002011-10-27T06:46:38.663-05:00In a FunkI'm in a funk. I hate being in a funk. I'm not sure why it happens, but I guess we all occasionally experience a funk. Parts of my house are a mess, and I just don't have the energy or desire to straighten them. Then when I go in those rooms, my funk just gets worse. I hope I snap out of it soon. I hate having to MAKE myself do housework, as opposed to actually WANTING to do it. I used to get into cleaning moods...not so much anymore. :( Maybe it's because the 3 other males that I live with don't seem to care. I find empty boxes still on shelves or on the kitchen counter. How much more effort does it take to walk 2 steps to the trash can??! So, that's pretty much the extent of my funk at home. Then, there's work...

I haven't taken a day off since I don't know when. I decided to take Monday off. It was really weird being off work on a day when everyone else goes to work and school, especially when you are hardly EVER out! I need to get used to that feeling, and do it more often. We get personal days, and I build up vacation days, too. It's just that, during school days, there's never a convenient time to take off. So when I do, I pay for it the day I return...double the work...and that much more behind. I've been playing catch up since then. Well, I guess it makes life interesting. I DO have some awesome friends and co-workers that make work more pleasant. I look forward to our daily lunch time, when we are able to gather together in the middle of the day and socialize for a bit. Sometimes we vent about things going on at work. Sometimes we vent about things goin on at home. It's what friends do. It's nice. So there IS some light within this funk I'm in. And this funk will pass. It always does. I just hate being in the midst of it, realizing it, and not being able to do anything about it. I just hope that it passes soon.

Maybe by the weekend...Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-48671164224966597142011-10-19T06:58:00.000-05:002011-10-19T06:58:38.075-05:00Quick Family UpdateMe: Chugging right along. Getting used to the new responsibilites at work. I have some great friends/co-workers that have helped me to get through it. We are there for each other. They make going to work something to look forward to. I do love my job. It just has those moments when I want to scream. Guess that's the case with most jobs, anyway.

Kevin: Had a little bout with unemployment. Finally found another job. Found out he had diabetes
about 3 months ago. That's under control now.

Chase: Still working at a hardware store. Still going to the local community college. Still doesn't know what he wants to major in.

Jordan: High school senior year. Where has the time gone? Friday night is senior night at the football game. My baby boy is grown up. :'( This football season has flown by. He takes the ACT test Saturday morning. Hope he scores high. Need a good scholarship!

Justin & Chelsea: He's still working at a carpet mill. Chelsea is 36 weeks along in her pregnancy. It won't be long now. We are gonna have another granddaughter real soon. Madelyn Rae Rowell, aka Maddie. Millie and Maddie. :)

Millie: She will be 2 on November 10. The other baby is due November 15. This should be interesting. Millie is really beginning to put words together and make cute little sentences. We taught her the most important phrase...Waaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr Eagle, Hey! See the cute video...

Justin and Chelsea found out yesterday that they will be having another girl in November! We are all so excited! Millie is the sweetest little thing, and just to think, times that by 2! The girls have caught up in this family. It's males, 4 (6, if you count the dogs), and girls, 4!! Wooo Hooo!!
Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-51590418373708249062011-08-24T05:26:00.000-05:002011-08-24T05:26:34.286-05:00Keeping Our Heads Above WaterI woke up early this morning with my mind racing about how much I had to do at work and how I was gonna be able to get it all done. I hate when I do that. I countered it by getting up and reading my bible. Praying about it. Blogging about it. It seems to help, yet I know that when I get to work there will be a million things facing me that need to be done. I have to stay focused, and just take one thing at a time. Trying to squeeze it all into an 8 hour day is hard. But I don't won't to work overtime every day. Something's gotta give.

The girl that I split jobs with seems to be having a trying time, too. I need to go spend some time with her to do a little training in order to ease her mind about payroll. But, right now I have to do the accounts payable and get the bills paid for both schools this week. I hope that I can just check in with her a few minutes today and ease her mind a little bit. It's the first time that she is doing payroll, and just the steps that you have to go through to do that can be nerve wrecking. And I feel that if I can sit down with her for a few minutes, then that will help her tremendously. Yes, I'll have to make time to do that sometime today.

And time goes on. She and I are just trying to keep our heads above water, lest we drown in a pool of bills, purchase orders, receipt books, and leave forms. Just pray for us. Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-90759575288604770492011-08-19T05:42:00.000-05:002011-08-19T05:42:56.675-05:00Looking Forward to a Brighter DayFriday, August 19, 2011-So, I have just about made it through the first week of school. This one has been a doozy! Last week (orientation week) was absolutely AWFUL!! I must remember this next year and try to take a chill pill or something. But don't "they", whoever "they" are, say that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger? Wow. I must be REALLY strong!! I'm ready to put these two weeks behind me and look forward to better days. But enough about me. How has your week been?Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-54477739858289767972011-08-13T08:49:00.000-05:002011-08-13T08:49:03.261-05:00Another Groovy Life UpdateI lived at work/school all week. It's the week before school starts back, and things have been so hectic. I had some added job responsibilities that have really thrown me for a loop. But I keep on tryin'...as Trace Adkins sings. I won't bore you with the gory details of the week. I just know that I am going to have to develop a time management plan and stick to it no matter what.

Now, onto some family updates:

Hubby Kevin: He has finally gotten his blood sugar level down to practically normal after being diagnosed with dibetes 3 weeks ago. We are still learning the best things for him to eat. He really has to work on exercising. I don't think lying on the couch pressing buttons on the remote control counts!

Chase: He passed his summer English 102 class after not doing so well with it during the Spring. This one was tough because he took it online, AND the teacher was a former military person. I told him that since he passed her class, the others should be a breeze! He struggled with it, so I'm glad that it's past him. Now, onto the Fall classes.

Jordan: Just finished up his last high school band camp ever. Yes, he is a senior this year. He picked his two rookies last week, and all the seniors got to throw water ballons at all their rookies. Fun times. It's going to be a sad year for mother, here. I don't know how I'm going to handle watching my baby boy graduate from high school. Stay tuned for all that.

Justin: He has been working at a carpet mill, and he said that word has been going around that the business is not doing too well. He came to Albertville and put in an application at a grocery warehouse. I'm hoping that works out, and they can eventually move back closer to us.

Chelsea: I haven't seen her in a few weeks. I'm sure that her pregnancy is showing really good now. They are planning on having one of those cool sonograms. 3D, I think. We still don't know the sex, so that should tell us.

Millie: What can I say? The sweetest baby ever. She loves books. She loves to go outside and run around. She is fully potty trained. We are going for a visit this weekend. I think I'll post some Millie pictures on here the next time.

So, that's about it. Keep me in your prayers as school starts next week. I pray that it will get easier and less stressful. I'm trying to stay positive, but I am failing, miserably. I knew orientation week was gonna be tough. I just had no idea that it would be worse than it was last year. So many demands have been placed upon me, and I am having a hard time meeting them all. I need some serious girlfriend time. Hoping for a better day tomorrow. Hoping the worse is behind me.Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-37450666607151791232011-08-09T22:58:00.001-05:002011-08-11T23:17:01.642-05:00August 9, 2011 Journal Entry: Time Passes QuicklyTrying my best to juggle all the new responsibilites of an added job description. We are learning lots of info to control it.

Work has already gotten hectic again. School starts very soon.

We still don't know the sex of the new grandbaby that will be here in November. Other than that, things seem to be going well with Chelsea.

Millie is fully potty trained. I haven't seen her in 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to her visit today!

I'm very disappointed in some of the choices my son, Chase, has made. I'm hoping he comes to his senses soon.

I can't believe Jordan, my baby, is now a senior. Full band camp starts for him tomorrow.Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-23038948315697313862011-07-21T07:03:00.000-05:002011-07-21T07:03:48.669-05:00STILL a Mystery!Chelsea went for her next ultrasound yesterday. The little booger still would not uncross its legs!! We STILL do not know that sex of this baby! As someone said, "I guess it's gonna be very modest." Oh well. As long as "it" is healthy, we'll have to just be surprised. I don't know if she'll have another ultrasound or not. She wants to have one of those new 3D or 4D ones. Those are pretty neat. You can really tell how the baby will look. She had this one done at the hospital. And, since the doctor was not at this one, the nurse doing it said that she couldn't tell them anything about the fluid level. They were disappointed at that...and still worried. They will have to wait on the doctor to get the report. The nurse did tell them that if something was wrong, they would probably hear something by the end of the day. At least they never did.

Chelsea gets so stress out about things. She is still taking classes for a major in secondary education. She stresses out about tests and homework so much. I told her that it wasn't good for the baby, and to try to relax. Maybe she will. She deals with mental illness, like my husband, so I worry about her. She is a great mother, though. I just pray all will turn out fine.Sandrahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13533117044204331680noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3799664641889153370.post-23600595417516018592011-07-15T20:36:00.000-05:002011-07-15T20:36:36.908-05:00July 15 Journal Entry: Summer Break??Can't believe people are already talking about "back to school" stuff.
