American Idol: My Prediction

It's Tuesday night. I just got finished watching "American Idol."  It was R&B night, and Usher was the mentor.  I love Usher! And, I'm so glad that it was a good night for the contestants.  While Siobhan, one of my favorites, didn't have a good night, I think most of the others did.  I must say, however, that I think it is time for Didi to go.  She has not been choosing great songs, lately.  I like Didi and have been rooting for her.  But tonight, I think she was the weakest performer.  I love her backstory about her and her friend who recently passed away.  I think Didi has a unique voice, but I think her song choices have done her in.  I believe she will be okay with a singing career if she figures out what type of performer she wants to be.  I think she just got caught up in all the advice from the judges, and she was trying to work it out, but she couldn't understand what they were saying.  I like Siobhan because she is different, and that girl can sing!  She has been criticized on some forums about her screaming, but if they will just listen to her, she can hit most notes effortlessly.  Sure, she had an off night.  Kara said that it happens.  I'm sure she will do much better next week.  So, that's my prediction, for what it's worth. I gotta go now.  Gotta go save Siobhan. 1-877-436-5701!!  :)

Take Me Down to Funky Town...No, Don't!!

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

I've been in a bit of a funk, lately.  I have no energy or "want to" to do housework.  I don't know if it's because there are so many darn good television shows on these days or what.  But, I'm hoping to get past this blahness soon.  I like for my house to look nice, but lately I haven't cared a lot.  There's just so much that needs to be done, that I just feel overwhelmed.  Do you ever get into a funk?  If so, how do you get out of it?  All advice is greatly appreciated.

My Exciting Friday Night...well, maybe not!

I'm sitting at the computer on a Friday night. Yeah, I know, I'm a party animal. :)  Hubby's in the living room watching a basketball game.  Chase is at a baseball game in Etowah, and Jordan went to spend the night with a friend.  Justin is supposed to be coming to spend the night.  He's not bringing my baby. :(  Chelsea has to work late, and she's not yet ready to let Millie spend the night so far away.  Supposedly, we will get to see her when we take Justin home tomorrow.  I guess we gotta get it while we can.  In the meantime, I'll just have to look at pictures like this one...

Is this not the sweetest face?!!!  I love this baby!!  She can coo and laugh now.  I love to just lie her down and make stupid, funny sounds in the hope of getting a response from her.  We make fools of ourselves just to get a laugh or a smile.  It's fun.

So, that's about all I've got to say for tonight.  I hope to be back soon with an awesome post about very interesting things...but, let's face reality.  It probably ain't gonna happen!  It will probably just be another post like this one, but that will have to do.

So, how have you spent your Friday night?

Hooray for Spring!!

I'm so glad that it's Spring.  We have had an unusual Winter in the South.  Snow was in the forecast almost every week, and we did get a pretty good one.  But, just because it's Spring doesn't mean that our cold weather is behind us.  There are reports that we may see some flakes of snow on Monday.  I hope this is our last bout with Old Man Winter!

The past few days have been gorgeous!  I've been out of work for spring break this week.  And, while the weather was not awful, it was Friday before Mr. Sun made an apprearance.  It's amazing how a little sunshine can lighten your mood and put a spring in your step.  Kevin and I took advantage of the wonderful weather today and took a short motorcycle ride to a local coffee shop.  It's one of our favorite things to do.  It was our first ride this year.  We are not die-hard bikers who ride in any kind of weather!  But, give us some warmth and sunshine, and we are SO there!  It was nice.  I always enjoy getting out and riding with him.  It's a way to just get away from the daily grind, if only for a while.

In other news, I've started another blog.  I know, you're saying that I can't even keep this one up-to-date!  I try, I promise!  But, I have been couponing for over a year now, and I have had several people ask me about it.  So, I began by getting a email list together of people who would like to learn my strategies.  It's not all about coupons, but about saving money, in general.  After I began sending out the emails, I had people tell me that I should have a website and get paid for doing it.  Well, there are a ton of those types of blogs and websites out there!  Where do they think I've gotten all my information?  But, I decided to bite the bullet and do it.  After all, we have about 2 grocery stores in our city, not counting the Hispanic ones.  Foodland and Piggly Wiggly are not that well known to all those blogs that I read, so there is room for me to make my mark in the money-saving blog world.  Eventually, I hope to make a little money off the ads or something, but all in due time.  Right now, I'm concentrating on getting it up and going pretty good.  If you would like to check it out the address is http://savingonsandmountain.blogspot.com/.  Sand mountain refers to the area in which I live.  They call this Sand Mountain because there is a lot sand mixed in with our dirt.  I have also set up an page on Facebook called Saving on Sand Mountain.  I often post Internet freebies & deals, also. So there's something that everyone will find useful, not just us on Sand Moutain.

Now, I'm out to spend some more time with my family.  We have been on a movie kick this week.  Tonight we are watching Armored.  I'll be musing with y'all later!

For Your Entertainment

I've shared with you videos of our awesome show choir, and I've told you how my son, Jordan, plays bass guitar for them.  But, I wanted to share a video of another show choir.  It is our middle school show choir.  These are 7th and 8th graders, and I think you'll agree, they have A LOT of talent.  Here is a video that I took of their ballad, "Up To The Mountain." It was written by Patty Griffin whose inspiration was MLK, Jr.'s speech, "I've Been to the Mountaintop," which he gave the day before his assassination.  This song has also been sung by Susan Boyle (Britain's Got Talent), and Reba McIntyre & Kelly Clarkson.  I was absolutely floored the first time that I saw our middle school show choir, VocalPoint, perform it. The future of our high school show choir looks very bright, indeed.  I hope you enjoy it.

And, here's a fun one the boys sang a little later...

Don't Forget the Fudge!

We took a spur-of-the-moment trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee over the weekend.  It was nice to get away and just do what we wanted.  I think the boys enjoyed it.  We went to the arcade.  They rode race cars.  We went to Ripley's Moving Theatre (don't waste your money).  Our hotel was right next to the aquarium which we didn't visit because we have been there on a previous trip.  We walked the streets of downtown Gatlinburg and visited the many shops that lined them.  The weather was nice.  It was a little cool at night, but not unbearable.  We stayed for 2 nights and came back on Sunday.  We made a little detour on our way home to stop and visit Millie and her mom and dad.  I didn't want to leave.  She is such a little cutie!  She was dressed in a little bumble bee outfit.  She had on black leggings and a little yellow dress with a sunflower and a bumble bee.  I may be in for a treat this weekend.  They say that they are gonna let her spend the night with us next Sunday night.  I hope that it happens.  I'm so excited!!  So, without furter adieu, here are some pics from the weekend.

Jordan was in the lead. Chase was 2nd, and Kevin trailed.

Kevin and I put on our disco duds.

Chase and Jordan with The Men in Black

Here's where we bought our fudge & taffy, a Gatlinburg must have!

We watched the guy make this taffy & put it on the roller for processing.

Hubby & Me at one of our favorite places to visit.
We couldn't leave without having fresh apple pie and ice cream!

One more view of the creek. (Taken while going down the road!)
